Cecilia Margi, born in 1998 in Brescia, Italy, where she continues to live and work, holds a degree in sculpture from the Santa Giulia Academy of Fine Arts. Currently, she is pursuing advanced studies in contemporary visual arts through a specialized two-year program at the same institution. Since 2020, Margi has managed Calicanto SpazioArte, a collective art studio where she curates exhibitions and cultural events.
Through her painting and sculpture, Margi invites us into a world of silences. Her subjects are evanescent, manifesting an incompleteness that is imbued with intrinsic strength. Often, her work conveys a sense of dissolution—an ambiguity that reflects the complexity of existence. Her figures remain in a state of continuous redefinition, emphasizing both the vulnerability and fluidity of life. Poised to break under the weight of their own being, they rely on the observer’s gaze to complete their meaning, inviting intimate interaction between art and viewer.
Each brushstroke and sculpted form is an exploration of emotional intensity, made tangible through her deep engagement with the creative material. In this intimate and introspective relationship with the creative process, Margi's art transcends technique; it becomes a tool for self-reflection and understanding the world around us. Her visceral approach seeks to convey the unspoken depths of human emotion, offering a raw and introspective look at the human condition.
In her work, the subjects are in constant self-discovery, vulnerable yet strong, always in flux. Margi’s pieces speak to the fragility of existence and the ambiguity that defines being. She ‘gets her hands dirty’ in her pursuit of giving voice to the unspoken, urging viewers to confront their own inner selves, to reflect on the complexity of life, and to engage with the delicate balance between fragility and strength.
