BIOGRAPHY

Mingze graduated with both a bachelor’s and master’s degree from the Oil Painting Department of Luxun Academy of Fine Arts (鲁迅美术学院). Now based in Beijing, she is celebrated for her exploration of life's fleeting, seemingly insignificant moments, which she elevates to the significance of historical events. Her work searches through the intrinsic value of life, uncovering beauty in the mundane and exploring themes of allure, respect, strength, and self-awareness.

Mingze’s visual style blends classical and minimalist aesthetics, capturing emotional, ephemeral moments with a fragmented, flowing technique. By obscuring facial features, she shifts the viewer's focus to body language, creating a unique connection through subtly humorous and slightly absurd metaphors.

Her art often focuses on the skin and its unique marks, viewing these bodily traces as landscapes that highlight the human body's dynamic growth. She also goes into the evolving spiritual world and the power of words in contemporary society, exploring the tension between materialism and spiritual emptiness.

Drawing from her upbringing in a northern seaside city, Mingze’s works are infused with a deep connection to the sea, symbolizing complex emotions and thoughts. Her series On the Infinite reflects on the eternal nature of human energy and the endless search for life’s meaning, capturing the essence of the infinite.
